Wednesday's Word Count

And here we sit. At the last Wednesday of another month.

Prior Goal: 2k

Accomplished: 2138

Goal for new week: 3k

Excuses / comments: I managed my 2k, and did quite a bit of thinking about my rewrite and new idea. I've finally let go of my fervent desire to have something polished by the end of the year. It's not doing anything for me, this rushed feeling, so I'm going to go with the flow for the rest of the year, and then regroup with some great goals for 2010. As Angela was kind enough to point out to me, I've done great things with my blog this year, even if I haven't accomplished all that I wanted to with my writing.

Things are going to be busy in the next few weeks. I have my daughter's birthday coming up in about a week, and all the planning involved in trying to throw this little wedding together in a short amount of time. But, even if it has to take a backseat, I don't want my writing goals to slip off the schedule completely, so I'm going to try for 3k this week. Really, that's only about three hours of writing time, at the most, if I can hit a stride and turn off Ms. Internal Editor. I just need to make the time to sit down and write an hour here and there.

Did you make your goals from last week (there were some great ones!)? What are your goals this week? Anyone planning on doing NaNoWriMo this year? It's going to come up on us pretty fast.

Good luck with your goal this week. And your wedding! Pretty sweet blog indeed.

Considering the NaNoWriMo but a little intimidated. But think it will be VERY good for me. So that's a firm maybe.

I think it's great you fulfilled your week goal. Just one week at a time, right?

As for NanoWriMo - probably.

It's good to hear you giving yourself a break. Writers need to drive themselves forward, but it's equally important to let up once in a while!

It sounds like you have a lot of great stuff going on in your life-- the writing will follow. Good luck with your goal this week!

I am excited for this week. I have a lot of forward momentum, and want to increase it. I have major revising to do with one of my main characters and then I can sew some pieces back together. I might have the first half of my book revised by next week. YAY!

Ha - Aimee! This is your first one right? How do you think you'll do?

Ben, you should definitely give NaNo a shot. Doesn't cost anything but time, and if that's too much you can always quit. I learned a lot about myself last year, which was my first go at it.

Thanks, Jamie! Definitely one week at a time right now. I'm always looking ahead, but sometimes the present demands something I hadn't planned for. Hope you'll be doing NaNo along with me!

It's definitely important to push ourselves, iconista, we're the only ones in control of our writing. But yes, we also need those breaks. Thanks!

Sounds like you're doing great, Heather. It's such an amazing feeling with you're making great progress, isn't it? I'll be looking forward to the day you say you're done with your revisions!

Congrats on making your goal last week, Casey. And good luck with next week's. You can do it.

And don't worry if you don't finish everything that you wanted by the end of the year. Your blog is really great, and I'm sure all that agent research takes a while to do.

As for your writing, give it whatever you can consistently, even if that's only half an hour, you'll feel great that you're writing. Goals are great, but keep them just to what you know you can accomplish, then they'll inspire you. And make you give yourself something great -- like lots of chocolate :) -- when you make them. So, go celebrate!

Well, since I had no goals set for the last week I guess I accomplished them! For the next week though, I want to be more than halfway through with the revisions on my finished novel so that I can get back to my WIP.

Thanks Samantha! I'm thinking about rewarding myself with books when I can meet my (good) writing goals. They're my biggest weakness, especially since I already always have chocolate on hand (ha!).

Good job accomplishing your no-goals, Sherrie! Heh. With the kids going back to school, I'm sure you'll get a lot done in the coming weeks!
