Top 20 Spotlights

Now that Agent Spotlight has been going for almost a year (well, in March), I thought it would be interesting to see which agents have had the most visitors.  Given that some profiles have been up a lot longer than others, it's not a fair representation, exactly, but I think it's still interesting.  Here's the top 20 from March 2009 to Jan 2010 according to my stats:

Daniel Lazar

Nancy Gallt

Maya Rock

Jill Grinberg

Marietta Zacker

Alyssa Eisner Henkin

Stephen Barbara

Steven Malk

Ginger Knowlton

Faye Bender

Jennifer Rofe Jaeger

Stephen Fraser

Merrilee Heifetz

Jennie Dunham

Joe Veltre

Michael Bourret

Sara Crowe

Bill Contardi

Brenda Bowen

Jamie Weiss Chilton

See any trends?  I'm noticing agents with small web presence as well as some big names...

You have done so much work on this, Casey. Thank you for all your time.

I think this indicates what a vital resource you provide here--especially in profiling those hard-to find agents without much of a Web presence.

At the opposite end of the Web presence scale is Nathan Bransford, uberblogger, who provides daily updates for all us agent-hunters.

But he's on vacation this week, and today I'm his guest blogger!! Yeah. I'm kind of in shock. If you want a little literary levity, stop by his blog at http://blog.nathanbransford.com

Hmmmm. Anybody shopping a book on statistics that can shed some light on this?

Casey,

You know I adore the 2nd and 5th agents you have listed! Like some of the others said, you provide an excellent resource!

Eh-hem! Why have you not written a book on this topic yet???? :)

Casey - thank you so much for the time and effort you put into these spotlights. I can't tell you what an incredible resource your work has been. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

What's interesting is even the 'big names' don't necessarily have a big web presence. It shows that your spotlights are an invaluable research tool for those who can't find a lot of the info elsewhere. Thanks again!

Your agent spotlights are a must-have resource for me. What an amazing job you do on your blog.

I think it's interesting what you pointed out. You're giving some of them a web presence with your posts. That's pretty cool!

You are right. This is a great place to find out about these agents.

Scanning the list, I see several that I personally referred to several times when querying. You're right, though--these are the ones without a web presence and yours was (in the case of a few) the ONLY specific, helpful source for the agent. And for some of the big names, yours was the most personal--making them seem like real people.

Interesting. I wonder how much I skewed your results by the research I was doing for a friend recently. She's looking for someone to represent all her work, picture book through middle grade, so while I clicked on each agent, I revisited the ones who represented all children's works. Some of them several times. :)

This makes me laugh. I faithfully worked through half of the names here. You are providing such a fabulous service for us. Thank you.
