WriteOnCon Back Up!

It looks like WriteOnCon is back up for most people.  It may take a little longer for the rest of you.  Let me know (in the comments) if you're still having trouble.  Also, if you've left a comment on my blog for one of the WriteOnCon posts, PLEASE go leave it on the main site, if you have the time.  The presenters are more likely to see them there, and I want them to know they're appreciated.

Thank you!  After things have settled down, I'm going to boost today's Tip Tuesday back up.

ETA:  The website goddess is saying to close and restart your browser.  If that doesn't work, maybe try clearing out your cache/cookies.  If that doesn't work, just give it some more time. We had to switch servers and it's taking awhile for everything to get smoothed out.

Elana is still posting the content up on her blog here:  http://elanajohnson.blogspot.com/

HEY!  If you still can't get on to the WriteOnCon site we have a backup chat HERE for tonight's LIVE panel at 9 PM EDT.  You'll be able to see and send questions just like the people on the WriteOnCon site!

I still can't get in either.

I'm down too.

Dang! We're looking into it. Thanks guys! Keep me updated.

I'm still down, too, unfortunately. :(

:( Still a no go for me.

Still down for me as well, Casey. You'll get it licked soon, just keep feeding the content on the blogs until then, because everything has been awesome so far!

I was on the site earlier, but now it appears to be down again.

I just got to work, and tried an entirely different computer and I still can't access it. :(

It was up this morning and then it was down and then it was up again and now it's back down.
Not complaining because I'm still in awe. Just FYI.

Casey McCormick said...

Thanks for hanging in there, everyone. We're seriously bummed we're having these issues.

Jason Wallis said...

Still out as well. Thank you all for working so hard at this. There was already great stuff earlier this morning. Don't let it get you down Casey. The down time is giving us more time to write!!

Forbidden. I was able to comment this AM. I rebooted and it was still down. I'll keep you posted if it's still down in a bit.

Emily White said...

Think of it this way, Casey: You're probably having these issues because the conference was so absolutely popular, everyone overwhelmed the site by signing on at the same time. That's a definite success! Plus, you guys are doing a great job of posting all of the great topics from the speakers. :D

Hi Casey! Thanks for putting a post up about this. I was afraid it was only me...that somehow I'd been black-balled and forbidden to enter.

I haven't been able to get on yet. But the great thing is that I've been able to read the stuff on yours, LiLa's and Elana's blogs.

So a big thank you!

Shelley

Okay, I just turned off my computer and restarted it, as you suggested, and lo and behold, it's working! Yay!

Natalie Aguirre said...

Mine is up on the Internet on my phone but not on my work computer. I tried restarting the computer. I'm so glad I got my new phone with Internet services this weekend. It's harder to sneak read though on the phone.

Sorry for the added aggravation for all you organizers.

Katharina Gerlach said...

Thanks so much. Patience is great - if you have it which In only occasionally do ;-)

Karen A Wyle said...

I still can't get through, despite clearing my cache. So it goes.

storyqueen said...

I was on!! I was on!! For fifteen brief minutes. Then I was reading in the forums and when I clicked the link to go back to the main page, I was kicked off.

Now I'm forbidden again.

I still can't get on, but I can get into the backup chat, so I'm happy!

Restarted, cleared caches and cookies. Nada.
But I'm getting WriteOnCon blog posts through my Google Reader, so it's not a total loss.
Think this has something to do with "Patch Tuesday"?

mjnickum said...

Still can't get on after rebooting, etc.

Jason Wallis said...

I've restarted, empty cache, repaired internet connections, tried getting on from another computer...zilch.
I've read "Forbidden" so much it's starting to look like a made-up word.

Casey McCormick said...

Hey guys,

If you e-mail or tweet at our web girl, Jennifer Stayroot, she *might* be able to help you. She's been able to help a few people.

j.stayrook(at)gmail(dot)com
@JentheAmazing

I hope you guys can get on soon!

So frustrated that I can't get in! But thanks Casey for keeping us updated, as well as with the actual posts from the "con."
Wonderful!

Chris said...

Was up for a while, but back down again. :^(

I'm unable to get it either. Got to the log on page once, then was immediately booted. This is sad :-( I'm glad the people who are able to get in are having a great time! I'll keep watching for content to be posted elsewhere.

Karrie said...

I keep trying, but can't get in either--Forbidden.

Jason Wallis said...

Jen helped me get back on but now off again.
Also, posted that i've made on critiques have disappeared as well as a few (but not all) critiques that people have place on my posts. Is this happening to anyone else?

Karly Kirkpatrick said...

I've tried everything you suggested. Nothing works. I'm completely locked out, have been the entire day. I'm pretty much just going to give up now. I did check out the few things you posted. Thanks Casey.

mjnickum said...

I keep trying too, but still can't get in either. I was all set to upload 250 words and my draft and finished first 5 pages, plus listen to the talks...

Casey McCormick said...

Sorry guys. : ( I don't know what to do.

Jason, one of our organizers just got booted, too. I don't know what's going on.

Karly, I know how frustrating it must be. Do you use a blog reader? If you add www.writeoncon.com to your reader you'll be able to view all the posts, at least (or go to Elana Johnson's blog). And we have a backup in place for chats. I'll link in the above post when the next one comes up.

mjnickum said...

I just e-mailed Jennifer. I hope she can help

Jason Wallis said...

I now have access to the critique forums but no where else. And my posts are still MIA...gggrrr...I shall post again! I'll take this posting on forums thing pro, if this keeps up! :)

Thanks for all your hard work Casey, I know you all are frustrated too.

Chris said...

May need to add on more servers. I'm still not able to get on. I've been monitoring the tweets for writeoncon on Twitter and there are a lot going out. Perhaps all the tweet links going out have created a swell of people to the site well beyond those registered.

Jason Wallis said...

I'm back in. Jen is fantastic. Casey, Jen needs a prize or rename this JenAmazingCon!

Casey McCormick said...

I hope you all e-mail Jen and give that a shot. Sounds like it's working for some!

Kelley York said...

Still having issues. I can get into some sub-areas of the forum, but that's it. :/ Bummed. I'll try that email address above and see if she has suggestions.

Thanks, I know you guys are all working really hard on all of this! :)

Marcia said...

Oh, I see. I thought it was me, because I hadn't registered ahead of time. No worries, though. I've already seen some of the good content and appreciate all the effort you and others have put in.

Casey McCormick said...

Nope, not just you guys. A lot of people are still having trouble. This was all supposed to work itself out after we switched servers this morning, so we're a bit stumped.

Some people have had some luck getting into the forums via the direct link: http://www.writeoncon.con/forums

Worth a shot.

Casey McCormick said...

Okay guys, the word is that there is nothing we can do right now. We switched servers this morning and it takes an unfortunate amount of time for everything to get up to speed. The majority of people should be able to access the site by tomorrow.

BUT, I've posted a link to the backup location of tonight's live panel in this post. Hope you can attend!

Dawn Allen said...

Not even the direct link works for me. I've tried everything you've suggested. Pretty bummed. Like being invited to the party and finding the door locked. :-(

Casey McCormick said...

Okay, please let me know if you're still having trouble tomorrow morning. I'm going to sleep with all my fingers and toes crossed that it's all fixed for EVERYONE.

Hear that, Universe? I'll even say please and thank you. : )

By the time I got to WriteOnCon it was already back up, but I really didn't have time to do more than sign up and browse. I'd just spent 3 1/2 days at a live conference volunteering, so it was too much to deal with. Fortunately, all that stuff will still be there when I get the time to go look at it. That's the beauty of an online conference! Thanks Casey! You guys did an awesome job.
